FÖRDŐS Jewelry Studio was founded by László and Bence FÖRDŐS (father and son) in 1992.
I am Bence Fördősand I am dealing with jewelry design actively.
Eagerness for innovation and endeavor to create personaljewelry – these are characteristic of me.
Wedding rings give me a particular opportunity to realize both of these desires.
I apply with pleasure new technicalsolutions and new forms on my pieces, not ignoring the practical points of view, namely that the jewel should be wearable.
Over and above the precious metals generally used in jewelry I process titanium, stainless steel and aluminiumin combination with exotic wood, bones, leather, acrylic, rubber and gems.
I believe that the true value of an object is determined first of all by the quality of the idea and design and then come the materials used.
When choosing the materials the first viewpoint is: for whatthe material in question is suitable, and on which part of the object it „feels good”.
The pieces you see on this website can be purchased directly in the Studio.
You are welcome!
Though I was working with jewelry since 1992, duringmy university years from 1996- except the years I spent in Finlandwith scholarship- I got far away from jewelry. This was partly due to the universitythematics( jewelry was not more than one semester during my studies) and on the other hand to my decision that I want to get acquainted with otherscopes of the craft.
In this period of time, between 1996 and 2002, I was co-workingwith architects taking part in differentinterior designer works ( Bank Center, Barabás villa, private flats), I designed give-aways for firms (Fornax Ltd.) and awards (Credit Swiss: „The man of the year”). Ihave been workingfor NKÖM (Ministry of National Cultural Heritage) for several years . I designed and made representation boards, magazine holders, inscriptions for them.
In autumn 2002I could easily say : no! I do not want to conclude compromises in my work, I do not want tofight with subcontractorsor those who order my works. And I do not want to be stressed bydeadlines.
This was the time when I decided to returnto my original topic that I can keep under control andwhich I can coordinate myself – assuming also the responsibility alone.
I made up my mind to design a variety of jewelry set that never existed before. At thattime were createdmy first steel jewels which were prepared with a sort ofprecise technology that was unkown in jewel-making before –as far as I know.
„Thinking in steel” and the new technology resulted in a jewelry variety that was in fact, a novelty of its kind. (Rings/stainless steel). These were my first works creatingwhich I was working among the limits of my own rules. This was for me the first test ofthe professional designapproach, which verified the additional knowledge that my university studies gave me. I am still grateful to my masters Vladimir Péter and András Bánfalvi for this.
Nowadays it became very important for me to know the person for whom the jewel will be made. To know her/him, to have a conversation with her/him, to map her/his wishes – these all help me toacleared result. This resulthas not to be a „great invention”, but under fortunate circumstances we both, the ordering person and me,feel that we are present in the object. It occurs many times that the picture of the jewel appears in my mind already on the occasion of our first meeting.
Wedding-rings are particularly good personal intermediates, since they bear, as a matter of course, a surplus meaning. They are mystic objects…. I createthem with pleasure.
